Thank you to all who attended our PTO General Membership Meeting on Wed May 9, 2012.
One of the items we addressed was the idea of changing from a PTO to the Colorado PTA. We had a speaker come and explain what this can for our school. We discussed how the PTA has no controlling effect on our fund-raising or how we vote to spend the money for our school and students.
There is a membership fee ranging between $6.75-$10.0o. The fee will be based on our decision as an Executive Board. The Membership card will provide the Individual members have access to a number of exclusive benefits including:
- Online parenting resources, including select articles from Our Children magazine.
- E-newsletters on parenting and legislative issues.
- Exclusive National PTA member benefits and sponsor offers.
- Leadership training opportunities in-person and online.
- Discounted member rate for PTA’s annual national convention, magazine subscriptions, and more.
- The Member-to-Member Network, connecting you to Congress when help is needed on issues important to children, schools, and families.
Once you have your membership card this will allow you the parent the ability to vote on issues at our General Membership meetings. We also learned about many FREE programs that will be available to our school via the PTA. Workshops on many subjects that are affecting our children today both in and out of our schools, such as Bullying, Health, blending families and much more.
We have attached a link to the National PTA website for all who could not attend our last meeting. We encourage you to spend some time reviewing it.
We will be holding our final General Membership Meeting for the year on June 12, 2012 at 6:30pm in the Library. At this time we will be voting on this topic.
Hope to see you there.
